• About three years ago I joined a rescue group. What started out as holding a leash for a couple of hours on Sundays turned into a whole new way of life for my family.

      There have been many changes in my life over the past year, all of them for the better. One thing I did lose, though, was my rescue group.

      I thought I had found a new rescue where I felt like I belonged. Unfortunately they didn't turn out to be what I thought they were. I'm walking away from dog rescue. I just can't do it any more. I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle and it hurts.

      I've just started volunteering with rabbits. I can't walk away from animals all together, I feel like I have to do something. This way I can give myself a much needed break from the politics of rescue but still make a difference.

      At first this blog was strictly about rescue. Then it became about my personal life. Now, finally, it's a little bit of both.

    Where Did The Weekend Go?

    Weekends by myself are supposed to go slow. What happened to this one? It went just as fast as when the girls are home!

    Friday night I stayed up until 1:30 building a NIC cage for the bunny boys. Saturday I slept late, went to bunny rescue, came home and watched TV.
    Today I did a bunch of running around, tore down the cage I built on Friday that was 3 stories tall and rebuilt it so it’s longer and 2 stories tall. It turned out pretty well and the bunny boys can zoom around in it. They’ve been doing binkies (that’s the rabbit equivilent to dog zoomies) since early this afternoon and finally, after 3 hours of intense binkying, they flopped on the second floor and watched TV with me.

    That’s it. I didn’t clean anything but I should have. I didn’t do any laundry but I should have. I’ll have to do that this week in the evenings. This weekend was all about wasting time and I must admit I did a spectacular job.

    I can’t believe it’s Monday already.I better get to bed so I can wake up in a couple of hours.
